Blessing by JasonEngle Blessing by JasonEngle
Done for Magic: The Gathering, Core 14.
Working on the core sets is always interesting, since you are given free reign in terms of costume, design, and it just has to fit a slightly more generic fantasy style then most Magic sets.

Incredible attention to detail.  I can feel the power of the divine light.

Having only seen it on a card before, I've overlooked the kind of scary look this has. The poses, expressions and white-out eyes look more in line with the typical "Necromancer raisin' some zombies" thing than an angel's blessing. Was that intentional?

White isn't good. Blind obidience is realy common in it. I think the scary part fits perfectly.

It wasn't a question of w=good. The typical MTG angel is all the good forever and this was unique in that respect.

I love seeing the core artwork. It's always so varied and interesting. I prefer it to the extension sets sometimes because they can often be very overwhelming with the concepts, like the Mirrodin sets. Great artwork, but I've seen enough mechanical spiders and beetles to last me til the end of time now.
